Research Scientist, Discovery Biology

The Research Scientist will work in our Discovery Biology lab. The position is focused on the Company’s in vitro (70%) and in vivo (30%) preclinical research efforts. He or she will be responsible to perform all duties related to experimental design and execution, data analysis, presentation of laboratory results, general laboratory responsibilities and assisting colleagues and/or mentoring interns. He or she must be self-motivated, independent, detail-oriented, collaborative, and willing to take risks. 


  • Develop and optimize various types of molecular- and cell-based assays (medium to high throughput).
  • Screen sets of compounds to evaluate potency, specificity, and mechanism of action in vitro.
  • Develop animal models for various oncologic indications (xenograft models, animal dosing, tissue harvest, PD marker analysis, etc.).
  • Keep detailed logs of the experiments (electronic lab notebook) and report scientific findings through write-ups and presentations.
  • Read and summarize current scientific literature for assigned programs.
  • Perform general laboratory duties as required, including maintaining and cleaning of lab equipment and purchasing of research supplies under guidance from senior staff.
  • Opportunity to manage out-sourced projects at CRO.
  • Develop Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) protocols and follow SOPs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Ph.D. degree in a related field of science (Biology, Molecular & Cellular Biology, etc.) with 0-4 years of post-doc or industry experience.
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with mouse models is preferred.
  • Knowledge of oncology, signaling pathway and assay development is preferred.
  • Basic cellular and molecular biology skills (including but not limited to tissue culture skills of mammalian and human cancer cell lines, siRNA/shRNA, transfection, recombinant virus, qPCR, western, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, reporter assays, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy).
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation skills and a track record of publishing in a peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Ability to summarize techniques, troubleshoot assays, independently analyze, and interpret experimental data and recommend next step.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new techniques and skills.
